“How many times do they have to impose sanctions? Once, twice, three times. We have already understood all this, but this is about the interests of the country,” said the Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze in a conversation with journalists.

In response to a question from media representatives about what arguments the statement made in Brussels by the EU High Representative Kaja Kallas after the conclusion of the Foreign Ministers’ meeting was based on, in which she spoke about sanctions against Georgia, the Mayor of Tbilisi noted that European bureaucrats do not like arguments.

“Statements regarding sanctions have been made repeatedly, and I will say once again — when it comes to the interests of the country, we will be uncompromising. We will have a very principled position. We will defend Georgia’s interests, the country’s future, and the interests of the Georgian people.

We are doing our job, implementing a policy in which the interests of the people and the country are protected. How many times should they impose sanctions? Once, twice, three times. We have already understood all this, but this is about the interests of the country.

In general, European bureaucrats do not like arguments. They limit themselves to superficial messages, threats, and blackmail. For a long time now, threats have been coming from them, including in connection with the so-called transparency law. We are asking for only one thing — to explain why this law is a problem or why it contradicts European values, while various European countries themselves speak about the necessity of such a law. You remember what kind of attacks followed when we adopted this law, and the same continues today,” said Kakha Kaladze.
