Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, together with Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze, inspected the construction of the Kvesheti–Kobi Bridge, the Government of Georgia reports.

The head of government reviewed the completed and ongoing works on the 23-kilometer Kvesheti–Kobi highway and tunnels.

As part of the project, a two-lane asphalt-concrete road will be built, along with 5 bridges and 5 tunnels, and one bridge will undergo rehabilitation.

After the opening of the Kvesheti–Kobi highway, winter traffic toward Kobi will no longer be restricted; residents of about 10 villages in the Khada Valley will have uninterrupted access to essential services, and travel will become safer and more comfortable.

Travel time will be significantly reduced: the Kvesheti–Kobi section will take 15 minutes instead of 1 hour; the trip from Tbilisi to Gudauri will take 1 hour 30 minutes instead of 2 hours, and from Tbilisi to Stepantsminda — 1 hour 45 minutes instead of 2 hours 30 minutes.

The project is being implemented with the support of the Asian Development Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, co-financed by the state budget. Its total cost amounts to 1.2 billion GEL. Construction is scheduled for phased completion in 2025–2026.
